Again, LEAD Rural Africa has reached out to the vulnerable in the Society, this time in Ondo state. The outreach which involved distribution of palliatives also doubled as a sensitization program.
During the outreach, LEAD Rural Africa distributed palliatives such as bags of rice, bags of salt, antiseptic soap and face masks to vulnerable people captured under our local social register. This register captured 250 people who are widowed, handicapped, single mothers and the elderly.
The Coordinator ,Dr Mandus Ese Akonjom said “as leaders of the crusade for the health and safety of our rural people during the COVID-19 pandemic organized a rural outreach for the good people of Ikare Akoko community in Ondo State on Sunday, 24th May, 2020
The recipients of the palliatives were taught in English and yoruba languages how to maintain good personal hygiene, wash their hands effectively and social distancing in line with NCDC Directives on the mitigating the spread of COVID-19.
Dr Akonjom expressed his appreciation to the Trustees and Team of LEAD Rural Africa for their relentless efforts at ensuring the successful outcome of the outreach.
“We deeply appreciate Dr & Mrs J.K. Oni and the entire staff of Citadel International College for hosting and facilitating this outreach. They ensured that the vulnerable recipients converged in an orderly manner without compromising on their safety”.
