The Chairman Zenith Labour party Chief Dan Nwanyanwu has called for more to be done about the Covid-19 pandemic in Kano State.
The party Chieftain who spoke on Covid-19 Watch, a TV program on AIT Saturday afternoon ,called for a more serious taskforce on Covid-19 to be set up in the star as present efforts are insufficient and not yielding results
He lamented the ordeal of the woman in the viral video who lost her son due to slow response when the relevant authorities were contacted.
“The President must intervene now, President Muhhamadu Buhari must intervene now.”
” In a period of just a month Nigeria moved from 44 cases to 1095 cases”.
The woman, who identified herself as Salman Ahmed, said her son-in-law was first admitted at a clinic before being transferred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he eventually died.
According to the woman’s narration, she was contacted by her daughter from Kano who said her husband had developed a high fever.
The symptoms subsided but suddenly got worse again after the son-in-law lost his ability to speak.
She suspected it was COVID-19 and started calling the NCDC hotlines. She couldn’t reach the Kano centre, but got through to the Abuja branch.
However, she couldn’t get help before her son-in-law died at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
“What will happen to my children, my daughter and my grandchildren when there is no NCDC in Kano?” she said in the viral audio.
According to Nwanyanwu, Kano state had a number of prominent officials in the Ministry of health and taskforce infected by the disease and out of form
Recall that the test centers in Kano state had been shut down presumably for fumigation amidst news of strange deaths in the state.
The Kano state government has already began evacuation of almajiris in the state.
