Contrary to reports that Kano state shut down its test centers for want of test kits, the state government says the shutdown was out of the need to fumigate in line with standard best practices.
A statement by the state coordinator ,Dr Tijjani Hussaini reads:
“The Kano State Coronavirus testing lab has not been closed. It also has enough testing kits. What happened was that it was only temporarily shut to be fumigated.
Coronavirus testing labs everywhere around the world are clinically and ethically shut to be fumigated after some tests. They are, as ethics provide, shut during the fumigation hours and 72 hours after. Normally this is part of the routine.
So the office of the Kano State coordinator Response Team on COVID-19, urged the general public to disregard the rumour circulating about the testing lab being closed due to lack of testing kits. That is not true. And any similar news coming from any other sources are not true”.
