The NUJ FCT Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche has described the appointment of Hon. Abike Dabiri- Erewa as a well deserved appointment hinged on her promotion of Diaspora issues over the years.
He made this statement when the Cross River journalist forum led by the FCT NUJ Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche paid a courtesy call to the Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora commission NIDCOM Monday in Abuja.
Ogbeche who described Dabiri-Erewa as committed and dedicated to the Diaspora cause said, Foreign Direct Investment and remittances from diaspora are a critical revenue generation tool and hoped that remittances would be maintained.
He applauded the appointment of CrossJof’s Chairman Gabriel Odu as Dabiri-Erewa’s personal assistant and assured her of the cooperation of the Forum in achieving her set objective.
Responding, the Chairman NIDCOM restated Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of every Nigerian at home and in Diaspora. She called on Nigerians where ever they find themselves to remember that they are ambassadors of this country.
She urged the NUJ FCT Chairman to do something about fake news and junk journalism while stressing the need for self regulation in journalism.
The Cross River Journalist Forum is the umbrella body of Cross Riverians from different media houses practicing journalism in the FCT.
