HIGH COMMISSIONER TO SOUTH AFRICA CALLS FOR CALM OVER ZENOPHOBIA_Ada Nkong
The high commissioner of Nigeria in Pretoria has expressed concern over the ongoing loss of lives, arson and looting of properties in some parts of Cauteng provinces of South Africa.
A statement by Ambassador Kabiru , high commissioner in south Africa says ” the high commission is compiling the list of all the Nigerian victims of the current anarchy for engagement with the South African government and other stake holders for succour.”
” In this regard, all Nigerian victims of the current attacks are requested to come forward to report their situation to the high commission and the consulate”.
Bala assured Nigerians that the two missions will continue to be home to all Nigerians in this trying times saying ” the missions have remained open and continued to render normal services to Nigerians and other customers without hindrance”.
He appealed to Nigerians to remain calm” and avoid any precipitate action that may jeopardize the arduous task of engaging the South African government through diplomatic channels “.
The high commissioner said concerted efforts are ongoing for a state visit by President Muhammadu Buhari which will address all existing concerns.
Mean While President Buhari has despatched s special envoy to South Africa to register his displeasure with the present situation.
