The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says airlift of pilgrims back to Nigeria from this year’s Hajj exercise will begin Saturday, August 17, 2019.
NAHCON, Head of Aviation, Engineer Mohammed Goni, disclosed this at the commission pre-Arafat conference holding in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Goni said the first flight from Flynas Airline, which will carry pilgrims from Lagos state will take off at “ 07:00 on the 17th August.”
He advised from the state Pilgrim Welfare boards and agencies to cooperate with the commission to ensure that pilgrims do not carry multiple hand luggage.
“States have to do much in this regard. Officials have to lead by example. If you don’t carry multiple hand luggage yourself, you stand better chance of implementing the rule,” he said.
Goni also said time wasted on screening pilgrims with multiple hand luggages may affect the take off time of a flight.
“ one a flight is delayed, the others will be delayed as well.”
He said based on the first flight schedule submitted by Flynas, the first four flights will carry Lagos pilgrims while the fifth will carry Kebbi state pilgrims.
