VP OSIBANJO CONDOLES WITH AFENIFERE CHIEF, HARPS ON COMMUNITY POLICING_Ada Nkong

The Federal Government says it will deploy troops on the highways to reduce increased rate of kidnappings and killings.

Prof. Osinbajo disclosed this on Sunday during a visit to the leader of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasorantin, to condole with the family over the death of his daughter Funke Olakunrin.
We are engaging the Army so that there will be a bit more military presence, especially along the roads.

“The Inspector General of Police has already committed to ensuring that there is full coverage of police even helicopter, first in the search for these killers and also to ensure that there is an adequate presence to deter this kind of terrible situation from reoccurring”.

According to a report on Channels television, the Vice President expressed concerns over the repeated killings and kidnappings, he said, “We have seen it replicated here and there, the kidnappings death, killings.

“As you know the President has recently met with the Service Chiefs and Inspector General of Police.

“The IGP has laid out a new policy on community policing.”

“One of the most important things is intelligence gathering and that is why we have the community police in the system where policemen will be trained in their own local government and will remain there.

“This is as close as we can get to the community police instructors that we expect to have.

“We are looking at the whole security architecture and trying to ensure we upscale it by and ensure that we are able to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians,” Osinbajo said.
