It looked like those celebrity weddings where you could do a roll call of the who is who. Mentally, I ticked off over two dozens of people who were so reserved and were hardly found at social gatherings who had come from all over the country to grace the event. The guests had been seated since 1 pm as the IV stated ,but he and his entourages were not yet present and understandably so.

It was the reception in Honor of Senator Sandy Ojang On or ” The Caterpillar ” as he is popularly known.

When he finally arrived at about past five pm flanked by his beautiful wife Barrister Gertie Onoh and their son, the standing ovation he received, belied a crowd that had waited for hours to receive their illustrious son.

Sandy thanked the people for their support and dedicated his victory to his supporters. He promised to listen to the People. ” Every good leader listens to the people “.Thereafter, he called for a minute silence in honor of his late mother in law.

He attributed his success to God’s help.

“I give glory to God. It is God that has made it possible for us to surmount all obstacles, walk through the valleys, the mountains, the rivers and the creeks ,to be distinguished and be counted among the 107 senators inaugurated today.”

Dr Sandy Onoh ,one time ALGON national Chairman is now Senator representing the people of Etung, Boki, Obubra and Ikom in Cross River state.

The reception was punctuated with renditions of the caterpillar song that saw supporters, friends and family dancing in celebration, as well as comedians who spiced the occasion with rib cracking jokes.
